Escape the crowds this summer in favour of the great outdoors, fresh air, peace and quiet. Enjoy the scenery of our unique location and take a stroll through the olive groves and winding campo roads, to the village, lake and miradors.

We frequently enjoy the following 5 scenic walks and can talk you through them, show you them on a map for those who fancy exploring our location by foot.

Walk 1) Mirador del Camino real de Andalucía – 50 minute round trip -  Easy walk.  

Through the olive groves which lead you to a stone walled viewpoint to admire the lake towards the dam.  Well worth taking a beer or two and watching the sunset over the lake.  Admire the green hills towards Freila, many gullies, rich red banks and on your return the imposing Mount Jabalcon. 

 

Walk 2) Village of Zujar – 45 minutes to the village – Easy Walk  

Visit our market on a Saturday morning, or sample some tapa in the local bars. You’ll walk on campo roads through the olive groves and past a few farms.  

 

Walk 3) Mirador Lake Negratin – 70 minute circular walk – Moderate

Take in the spectacular views of the Lake, this is one of the viewpoints where you can see almost all the lake from the Dam to the Thermal Baths. As well as the lake, you’ll climb towards the imposing mount Jabalcon and walk back through countless Olive groves.

 

Walk 4) Arroyo del Carrizal  - 90 minute circular walk – Moderate

Fabulous walk down the ravine and along the stream that runs through the village of Zujar into the lake.  You can see and visit some of the old Moorish caves high up in the sides of banks, these were inhabited right up until the 60’s! You also take in great views of the lake, while walking through pine trees and fresh pastures.

 

Walk 5) Olive Grove – short 35 minute circular walk – Easy

Enjoy the views towards the village, the unique landscape towards Freila and the teepees on our site through the olive groves.

 

Actually you can see our site from all of these walks. The natural beauty and diversity of landscapes make this whole area a pleasure for the serious and casual walker alike.
