Big Skies…

Having lived on the Altiplano for a number of years you truly appreciate the Big Skies evident in all directions from our humble campsite.
Wherever you look there is very little to obstruct the view from our elevation of 720m and the fact we are surrounded by olive trees and only the occasional distant farm building. We do of course have the mount Jabalcon backdrop to our site, but even this huge rock seems dwarfed in our environment of massive sky.
Elevation differential is a key factor where very little obscures your actual view of the sky, coupled with hills and mountains on the distant horizon, you can often get a clear view for many many kilometres. A lack of humidity is another key ingredient, we enjoy a dry summer air and this lack of moisture creates a clear view, an effect that enhances any cloud clusters and creates a feeling of distorted proximity.
The sunsets consequently are surreal in their enormity and promote a feeling of wonder from our campsite, colourful, dramatic and awe inspiring.
